Let's talk protection..and I don't mean "wrap that rascal"
Ok, see that was suppose to be a joke. I'm not really good with jokes these days. My life tends to be a little...what would you say..frazzled. I won't bore you with the details but I want to take a minute to tell you about something else. Mom Central was kind enough to include me on a review regarding Norton 360 Version 2.0. I make no bones about the fact that I'm not very technically inclined. I mean, back in 1995, I knew more than most of my buddies. Well, for that matter, I probably still know more than most of MY buddies. But, at that time, I could do a decent job of upkeep on my own computer. Now? Holy cow! There's a world out there that's simply way beyond my comprehension. But, my husband, yea, he knows his stuff.
I asked for his help with reviewing this product, as I do with most all the products I receive but most of what he said was so way over my head, I couldn't even re-type it for you. So, I'm going to tell you briefly what I thought instead. This product arrived in a huge box. When I opened it, I received a letter, addressed to me, yea, to me, "Hi, Jerri Ann" that's what the letter said. No, I'm not kidding. So, this personal letter, don't forget that part, it had MY name at the top, was basically just telling me a little about the product and what they hoped to achieve by having me do this review. Cool! I can do that.
Here's what I learned right off the bat. MY digital camera, yea, that new one I just laid big bucks down for last weekend, can get a virus. Really? I'm very serious. Your iPod can get a virus too and all that can happen before it ever reaches your home. That was the biggest shocker to me. And, I've heard a lot about the word phishing lately but I really didn't know what it meant. But, now, I do know that Norton can help combat that as well.
If I don't cut to the chase here, we'll be reading and writing all night. First of all, let me tell you again, I'm talking about Norton 360 Version 2.0 All-In-One Security. That means antivirus, antispyware, firewall protection, antiphishing, identity protection, network protection, advanced browser protection, PC tuneup and automatic backup and restore. That's a lot people. I learned all that simply during the install process.
Ok, let me fess up here, we've been a family, by nature of my techie husband, that has always managed to get by without having proper protection. My husband is good, but he is no where as good as this software. I've lost a year's worth of picture once and lost my second son's entire birth photos because of a virus. Let's just say that my copy came with a one year protection for up to 3 PC's in my house and you can bet your bottom dollar I will be using it on my computer whether he chooses to or not.
