DNA – it’s a learning curve

As I sit here writing this, I am watching a marathon of crime shows.  And, they are showing the boy scouts how a machine works that takes a fingerprint and then searches through a database to see if it matches in any criminals.  A kid’s finger was put in the machine and then everyone was chatting.  Wayne and I were chatting that it was going to be a match and I quickly said yea, he was kidnapped.  My husband said, “Humm I don’t know”.  And, with that, the machine popped up a match, scaring the lab tech to death.

They call in the boss and the screen is showing that indeed, the child was in the database as an abducted child.  So, now the time has come for these folks on this crime show to start checking the kid and parents ancestry dna so they can attempt to find out exactly how this kid came to be in the system where the lab tech just told the kid there were only harden criminals.  OOPS!
