Let me tell you about exercise

First of all, don't judge me because I have a Bachelor's degree in physical education.  I am not your aerobic-teaching, fat-free, sugar-free veggie loving physical education teacher.  I am your very plump, poly-cystic ovarian physical education teacher who prefers to coach and not teach at all.  That said, I have managed to find myself well over any kind of reasonable limits with my weight.

It all started when I was already over weight from having 2 children.  Then, I started steadily gaining 3 to 5 pounds a week.  I went to the doctor, and another doctor and yet another doctor before I convinced someone that something was wrong.  Yep, I am diabetic and I have a thyroid disorder.  Put all those things together and it was time for me to lose some weight.  One of my husband's co-workers offered him a free treadmill.  It needed a new belt and his wife hadn't used it in years.  So, it was on.

It took me months to find a new belt.  I didn't know that teadmills were such finicky little creatures about their parts.  Anyway, I got the belt.  It took me a couple of months to get my husband to put the belt on the treadmill.  And, I was promptly diagnosed with mono and told not to exercise for at least 3 months.  Well, I feel much better and since the danger in exercise and mono has to do with rupturing an enlarged spleen, I don't really think I am in any danger.  So, I'm calling  my doctor today to see if I can start walking on the treadmill.  I mean, I couldn't run if I wanted  to and I can hardly see me doing my spleen any damage just walking, right?

UGG Boots

I'm not a big fashionista.  And, for that matter where I live doesn't lend itself to good winter clothes.  Summer clothes, summer fashion, yes, we most definitely could get involved in that, but for the most part, winter is just a slightly cooler version of summer.  Yes it does get down in the 30's and I know some folks would consider that a winter but it just doesn't get cold for long periods of time.  Either way, I do see people out and about, perhaps cold natured people, who try to sport their winter fashions even when the daytime temperatures get up around the 60's mark.

UGG boots aren't really ever necessary in our part of the south if you ask me.  But, I know many people, including teenagers who dress with the fashion more than dress for the weather at hand.  And, honestly, I am very hot natured so I basically wear short sleeves year round and I suspect that these boots wouldn't be very appealing if I had on a short sleeve shirt.  But, I've seen plenty of sweater and turtle neck wearing people out and abut who are wearing the boots or could easily pull off wearing them, even in my neck of the woods.

Talking Watches

Since I have worked in education most of my life, I've almost always worn a mickey mouse watch of some kind.  You know then I went the big name brands when I wanted to dress up.  But, I've never had a watch that talked to me.  But, right now, talking watches is sounding pretty good.  I have so much going on it might be kind of nice if I had a personal assistant to remind me of things that are going on that I need to attend to.

I take medication for diabetes and thyroid disorder and I rarely ever forget.  But, if I get sick and I have to take something more than once a day, I will forget it half of the time.  And, if I had a watch that would say, "hey you goof ball, time to get some medicine in your system so you can get better", now that might be pretty cool.

Laptops, desktops...what suits you

Not too terribly long ago I went on a business trip.  When I finally got settled in my hotel room (that alone is a story worth telling sometime), I pulled my laptop out of my bag and the cd drive just fell out.  Over time, small screws had been coming out of it, and we saved them for a long time.  Then, the cleaning lady or someone moved them.  So, we should have seen this coming.

So, when I told my husband what had happened, it said, "I guess it is time for you to get a new laptop."  I said good and laughed because before I called him, I had bought me one.  It wasn't long before he come hauling in a new one, his though belongs to the company he works for, mine belong to me.

Work without taking your child to daycare? Yea, whatever!

The Littlest Cubicle Warriors is what People Magazine calls them.  They say forget daycare and parents are taking their kids to work.  As a daycare owner, I say, puhleeeze!  Have you ever been inside a daycare?  Do you know how loud kids are?  Do you know how demanding they are?  I say it again, come on puhleeeeze!

Apparently more than 300 companies in 33 states are setting up programs where employees can bring their kids to work.  I agree with the folks at People when they say that squalling babies can deter productivity.  But, a psychologist a UC Berkeley says it improves family bonding.  I say, ok, whatever!  I have parents that leave their children and say, thanks, I could never do what you do.  I think most prefer their day with adults....otherwise, they become teachers.

Diet Pills

I am a hefty ol' woman.  I mean, I was so small at school in elementary schools, but girlfriend, when puberty hit me, I just bloomed into this curvy teenager.  I didn't necessary have curves in the right places.  One of the places that I produced some extra padding is in my mid-section.  Plus, I have a really low waist and picking out clothes is a major ordeal because women's pants usually hang down to my straddle.  And, well, you know, men's pants aren't always the most appropriate.

So, on one or more occasions, I've used diet pills.  I've found various kinds that I could tolerate but with high blood pressure and mitral valve prolapse, it is difficult for me to find the right drug that helps me without making me feel ill in another.

So, my suggestion would be to make sure you hit the right places and do your research.

Reading, that's what makes you smart

I tell my children almost everyday to read stuff.  My three year old can't technically read and my five year old knows a few sight words, but reading, reading is what you make of it.  I am constantly asking him what does "dog" spell, what does "tree" spell? and he tries.  The most amazing thing to me though is to see them sit down with a book and tell me they are "reading".

I own a daycare and we have mounds and mounds of books.  We even have quite a few old textbooks that can help my children grow and learn.  I've got old reading books, old spelling books, you name it, we have it.  I just hope my kids want and like to read more than I do because I'm really lazy about it, but I'm trying to instill something better in them.

Digi...have you gone completely digi....

I was a little slow getting into the digi-wave several years ago.  My husband was already well into digital cameras and everything and it didn't take long for me to catch on with all of his digi-stuff.  He had this enormously large digi camera that used floppy disks.  It was really cool and we took pictures of everything with that sucker.

Then, fast forward til now.  We have one huge portrait camera that we used for special occasions.  And, now we have two small digital cameras, one for my purse and one to leave at school so if there are some awesome things happening there when I'm not around.

Now, we have more pictures than we know what to do with so we have to keep putting them on flash drives and locking them up at a rapid rate to keep from losing all of our memories.

Cryo Baby

I know you've heard of crybabies, right?  Well, yea, we all have and on occasion I have more than one of them at my house and even have about 20 odd cry babies at school, so obviously we all are familiar with that term.  But, do you know what the term Cryo-Cell Baby means.  Yea, that's what I thought.  Most of us have probably never even heard those words.  And, for those of us who have, it was all about sheep and the such, right?

Well right now, there are plenty of women (and men) out there, who know exactly what the words Cryo-Cells's Revolutionary New Family Stem Cell Combo.  There are several reasons why a family would choose to take part in Cryo-Cell Innovative Stem Cell Solutions.  first of all the umbilical cord blood stem cells are 100% match for your baby and there is a 1 in 4 chance that our newborns blood from the cord would be a match for one of his/her siblings.

Add to that the idea that Cryo-Cell's "Protect Baby, Protect Mom" means that this blood could also be a 100% match for mom and her first degree relatives like her parents and siblings as well.  This C'elle as it is called as been used in over 8000 transplants worldwide to treat over 70 diseases.  There's so much more than can be done with the C'elle.  So much so that the "Protect Baby, Protect Mom" Special Limited-Time Introductory Offer can help families safeguard their families healthcare and can potentially help with regenerative medical therapies.  It is affordable and is offered with introductory savings.

If you are pregnant and are interested, you can have a free cord blood kit rushed to you overnight or even same day if you really are that close to delivery.  It sounds like something we all need to take note of doesn't it?

More Vacation Talk - Luxury Please

Yes, my husband are taking a little weekend where we can run around like little while Indians doing anything we please.  Of course, his idea of a good vacation would be be to get to our destination, rest for a few hours that afternoon and then hit the ground running the next day.  He would be all for a short rest in the afternoon but then he would be want to get back out in the sightseeing world.  for me, the idea of a cool vacation comes more in the form of simply relaxing.

The way I look at it is this, if we are going to go to sight-see, let's go somewhere that we've never been before.  But, if we are going to rest, then let's go somewhere familiar that way there's no pressure to see the sights, we know where the good restaurants are and we know most definitely the schedules of the tourist.

And, finally, luxury vacations would be the kind where we are kind of familiar with the area but we have a few places we want to eat or see that we've never been before.  But, the luxury part would come in when we could sleep in, go get massages and facials and lay by the pool and have drinks brought to us and then have manicures and pedicures and another massage prior to getting dressed for a really fancy night out.  Now, that's what I call a luxury vacation.  What about ou?
